18+ years moving America's vehicles.
Headquartered in Austin, Cross State Auto Transport is a USDOT-licensed auto-transport broker with carrier partners in every US state.
We started in Austin in 2007 with two trucks and one belief: car shipping shouldn't be a black box. No hidden fees. No mystery carriers. No deposits before we've earned them.
Today our team dispatches across all 50 states, with a vetted partner network of 8,000+ insured carriers. We've shipped over 20,000+ vehicles — from $400 estate sales to $400,000 collector cars.
Every quote, every load, every claim is handled by a human in our Austin office. Not a bot. Not a call center halfway around the world.

How a two-truck Austin operation grew into a nationwide network.

In 2007 we owned two trucks, an Austin warehouse with a leaky roof, and a single conviction: car shipping shouldn't feel like a bait and switch.
We watched the industry default to a script — quote low to win the booking, take the deposit, re-quote the day before pickup when no driver took the load. The customer always lost the same way: late, overcharged, talking to a different person every call. We started this company by writing the opposite rules on a whiteboard and refusing to break them when growth made it tempting.
The first rule: no deposit until a real carrier with a real MC number is assigned to your VIN. The second: one dispatcher owns your shipment start to finish — same name, same direct line, every call. The third: the quote we send you is the quote we honor, even when fuel spikes between booking and pickup. Those three rules cost us money in the early years. They also built the customer base that's still with us today.
By 2014 we had full FMCSA broker authority, a partner network spanning every state in the lower 48, and 20,000+ delivered VINs to our name. By 2023 we'd stood up a dedicated enclosed division for collectors, exotics, and concours cars. Through a pandemic, a freight recession, and two fuel shocks we never went a day dark. The whiteboard rules still hold.
That's the story behind the 4.9★ rating. It isn't a marketing line — it's 2,140+ people who got the shipment they were promised on the date they were promised it. We'd like you to be the next one.

Questions, answered
When was Cross State Auto Transport founded?+
We launched in Austin, Texas in 2008 as a two-dispatcher brokerage focused on the Texas–California corridor. Eighteen years later we've shipped over 20,000 vehicles across all 50 states with the same family-owned ownership team.
Where are you headquartered?+
Austin, Texas — our dispatch floor, claims team, and customer service are all in-house. We don't outsource calls or chats to overseas centers.
How big is your team?+
Twenty-two full-time dispatchers, six claims specialists, four account managers for dealers and corporate accounts, and an eight-person customer service team — all under one roof in Austin.
Do you own your own trucks?+
We're a broker — we don't own carriers, which is exactly what gives us access to thousands of vetted trucks nationwide instead of being limited to one fleet. The carriers we dispatch are independent owner-operators and small fleets we've worked with for years.
What community work do you do?+
We partner with Operation Comfort and Hire Heroes USA to subsidize PCS moves for active-duty military families, and our annual scholarship awards $5,000 to a Texas-area college student in a logistics or supply-chain program.
Ship with the team that built the network.
No deposit until a carrier is assigned. Talk to a real dispatcher in Austin — not a call center overseas.
