If you need to file a claim
The Bill of Lading is the entire story. Here's the playbook.
- 01Inspect at delivery — do not sign clean
Walk every panel with the driver. Photograph any new damage with timestamps. The Bill of Lading is your contract — what you sign is what happened.
- 02Note damage on the BOL
Driver and you both sign the annotated BOL. This freezes the claim window in your favor, not the carrier's.
- 03Call dispatch within 24 hours
We open the claim with the carrier's insurer that same business day and request the COI on file.
- 04Repair estimates (2–3)
Provide two to three written body-shop estimates. We submit them with photos and the annotated BOL.
- 05Resolution
Most claims resolve in 14–30 days. Direct check from the carrier's insurer to you or your body shop.
Questions, answered
Is insurance really included in the quote?+
Yes — every carrier we dispatch carries $250,000+ in cargo insurance, included in the quote at no extra cost. You receive a Certificate of Insurance before pickup so you can verify coverage with your own broker.
What's NOT covered by carrier insurance?+
Pre-existing damage (always note it on the BOL), acts of God in some policies (lightning, hail in transit), personal items left in the vehicle, and aftermarket parts not disclosed at booking. Read the COI carefully or ask us to walk you through it.
What happens if my vehicle is damaged?+
Note it on the BOL at delivery, photograph everything, and call us within 24 hours. We open the claim with the carrier's insurer, supply paperwork, and follow it through to payout. Most cosmetic claims settle in 14–30 days.
Do I need supplemental insurance?+
Standard $250k coverage handles 99% of personal vehicles. If your car is valued above the carrier's policy limit, we'll add a declared-value rider for $25–$100 per $100k of additional coverage.
Will my personal auto insurance cover transport damage?+
Usually only as secondary coverage after the carrier's policy. Filing through your personal insurer can raise your rates and is rarely necessary — the carrier's cargo policy is the primary policy for in-transit damage.
